| Vocational training program Project
YODIFEE does not have its own vocational training centre. It matches young people wishing to learn specific skills, with service providers running appropriate training courses- following the successful completion of training; participants may apply for a loan from YODIFEE to establish their own business.
YPWDs ( Young People With Disabilities) who wish to be a participant at YODIFEE have the opportunity to gain:
Vocational skills training,
Work experiences,
Establish a sole trader.
Vocational skills training
YODIFEE places trainees in different NGOs that provide vocational training courses. The training courses are in: mechanics, electrical repair, carpentry, beauty care, hairdressing, sewing and weaving, wood carving and farming. Generally the placements last one year. YODIFEE visits trainees every two (2) months to gain feedback on their progress.
Work experience
After one (1) year of training, YPWDs will be able to acquire some work experiences by working in local businesses relevant to their skills and training received. This lasts six (6) months and will help them learn how to manage a small business.
Establishing a sole trader
At this stage, trainees return to their hometowns and create small businesses. However, prior to this, the YODIFEE director or designated representative discusses with the trainees the way in which the business shall be run. The parents are also consulted about these matters and their advice is eagerly sought. YODIFEE gives loans to some trainees. The Marist Mission Centre, Australia and Stitching Liliane Foundation, Netherlands provides funding for these loans.
