New admin structures introduced
At Yodifee we are currently working on up-grading all of our administration structures and systems. With the growth that we have experienced over the last few years, we felt that it was important to make sure that our administrative structures were strong enough to ensure that we could offer the best possible service to the many young people who we endeavour to assist.
The decision to introduce new administrative structures required a lot of commitment and time from our staff, but thanks to their hard work and dedication we feel that we now have a much stronger, more professional base from which to do our work.

Our farm in Kampot will be fully-functioning very soon. This was a very big project and we are very pleased that after all the hard work that was involved in the construction phase we are now ready to begin the farm-work proper.
We will start to breed pigs and chickens on this farm, enabling some people with disabilities the chance to earn a living, and others the chance to gain training - hopefully leading to some of these trainees establishing their own farms. As well as this however, we also have ambitions for this farm to serve some extra special functions.
In the surrounding villages, there is a high rate of children with Cerebral Palsy. As many people know this is a devastating condition, and many of these children have no way of accessing school. We want to set up a day care centre/kindergarten at this farm, providing nutritious food, care and life skills, and basic education for some of these children. We hope that, after spending some time with us, some of these children can go on and enter the mainstream schooling system at primary level.
We also want to set up a special medical centre at this farm in order to serve the needs of pregnant women and new mothers who live in the vicinity. Many people in this area do not have access to hospital facilities, and so we aim to be able to provide a service to them. We also hope that a side effect of this will be that more children will be given access to polio vaccinations. Many of the children we help at Yodifee are in fact polio victims. The fact that a simple vaccination could prevent this disease makes the situation so much sadder, but also makes us all the more determined to win the battle against polio in Cambodia.
We also want to bring in external physiotherapists, to help people with disabilities in the area, as well as experts who could fit some of these people with prosthetics.
At the moment these are our ambitions, goals and dreams. We are working hard with the hope that they can become a reality one day soon. |
